Islamabad:
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a serious heat wave warning over most parts of the country during the upcoming Eidul Azha holiday and the following week.
According to MET Office, a high -pressure system is expected to develop across the country on June 7, which will seize most regions from June 8 onwards, which significantly increases day temperatures.
Day temperatures are expected to rise 5-7C over normal in the upper half of the country, including central and Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltist from June 7 to 12.
In the southern half, covering upper and central Sindh, southern Punjab and parts of Balochistan, temperatures probably remain 4-6C over normal in the same period.
Dust storms and gusty winds are also expected over the plains due to excessive surface heat.
MET Office has called on the public, especially children, the elderly and women, to avoid long -term sun exposure and remain well hydrated.
Citizens are advised to take all precautions to prevent hot -related diseases.
Rising temperatures in the northern areas could accelerate the snowmelting speed, potentially affecting water flows in rivers. The authorities have called on the sensible use of water and requested farmers to plan their crop activities in accordance with the forecast.
All affected departments have been asked to stay aware and take the necessary actions to mitigate risks during this serious weather conditions.
