At least seven people, including five children, lost their lives in a roof collapse in the Farooq-E-Azam area of Sukheke Mandi, in the Hafizabad district of Punjab on Saturday.
Police said Parliament was used as a teaching center where a woman and her son taught a group of children when the roof suddenly came in. All seven people – supervisors and five young students – were buried under the rubble and died.
District Police Officer (DPO) ATIF Nazir reached the scene of the accident and conducted rapid rescue operation with a hope of drawing the victims alive.
Authorities said that an investigation had been initiated to determine the structural cause of the collapse.
The incident has left the local community shaken. The rescue operations continued until the evening.
