Five Pakistan Army soldiers, including a captain, were martyred while seven Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Kurram district, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted the operation in the general area of Dogar, Kurram District, after receiving reports of the presence of terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij. “During the execution of the operation, seven Indian-sponsored Khwarij were sent to hell due to the effective engagement of our troops,” ISPR said in a statement.
It added that during an intense exchange of fire, Captain Noman Saleem, aged 24 and a resident of Mianwali, embraced the shahadat along with five soldiers. Captain Saleem, a young doctor, “fought gallantly while performing his duties as a medical aid,” the statement said.
The soldiers who gave their lives were identified as Havildar Amjad Ali (39 years, resident of Swabi), Naik Waqas Ahmad (36 years, resident of Rawalpindi), Sepoy Aijaz Ali (23 years, resident of Shikarpur), Sepoy Muhammad Waleed (23 years, resident of Jhelum), Sepoy Muhammad Khair (23 years, resident of Jhelum).
The ISPR said a clearance operation was underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area. “Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies, under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam as endorsed by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue their relentless counter-terrorism campaign to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the statement added.
