Lahore:

The long-time Ramzan Sugar Mills case took a dramatic turn after six years when the complainant differs from the case and said in court that he had no objection to the acquittal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif.

By acting before the Anti-Corruption Court, complainant Zulfiqar Ali said Judge Sardar Muhammad Iqbal that he did not file the complaint against Sharifs, nor was he aware of the application in which the case was initiated.

“I withdraw this application,” he said. On this, Judge Ali ordered to submit a statement confirming his attitude.

Then Ali submitted the statement and reiterated that he had no involvement in the case. In his statement, he said he was not aware of the contents of the complaint, had not signed any application and lacked any knowledge of the construction of the wastewater drain near Ramzan Sugar Mills, which is in the heart of the case.

“I have no objection if Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif are acquitted,” Ali said in his statement.

The judge asked if the complainant’s statement had previously been registered, as Ali responded negatively.

Meanwhile, a representative of PM Shehbaz marked the participation, and the court postponed the case until January 30 for further arguments.

In a speech with the media, Zulfiqar Ali maintained that his court declaration was made without any external pressure.
