Shehbaz Greet Gaza Ceasefire Deal as ‘Historical Opportunity’ for lasting peace in the Middle East

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that the announcement of a “deal” that will bring the genocide in Gaza is a historic opportunity to secure lasting peace in the Middle East.

In a post on X, the leading of US President Donald Trump’s leadership praised the management of month -long negotiations to this step and called it a reflection of his “unwavering commitment to world peace”.

Shehbaz praised the leaders of Qatar, Egypt and Turkiye for their sustained diplomatic efforts to secure a breakthrough.

He said the world should pay tribute to the Palestinian people who have endured “unprecedented suffering” and ensure that such tragedies are never repeated. He also expressed concern about fresh provocations at Masjid Al Aqsa and urged global powers to keep “occupies and illegal settlers” responsible and protect the ongoing peace efforts.

The Prime Minister confirmed that Pakistan continues to work with regional partners to promote peace, security and dignity to the Palestinian people, in line with their hopes and the UN decisions.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also greeted the progress and said that Pakistan “praises President Trump and Qatar, Egypt and Turkiye for their efforts” to secure an initial ceasefire, hostage-prisoner exchange and humanitarian access to Gaza.

He expressed hope that the agreement would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and confirmed Pakistan’s support for a sovereign Palestinian state based on borders before 1967 with al-QD’s al-Sharif as its capital.

Trump receives Note about Gaza Deal during the event in the White House

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump was seen received a handwritten note from State Secretary Marco Rubio during a roundtable discussion in the White House about the Antifa movement.

As caught by pool cameras, the Rubio Note handed the note to Trump, while court lawyer Pam Bondi spoke.

Moments later, the Trump read the note and said to journalists, “I just got a note from the Secretary of State who said we are very close to a deal in the Middle East and they will need me pretty quickly. So I would take a few more questions.”

According to ReutersThe note – written at the White House Department – Read: “You will soon have to approve of a truth social submission so you can announce the deal first.” The White House has not yet commented on the exchange.

The statements came when Trump said he may have traveled to the Middle East later this week, with dealers in Egypt reporting “encouraging progress” against a comprehensive agreement to end the Gaza conflict. Negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh are centered on Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which proposes a phase truce, release of hostages and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

According to brokers, Hamas has submitted lists of hostages and Palestinian prisoners for a swap, while Qatar, Egypt and Turkiye have intensified coordination to remove final obstacle to the ceasefire.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi described the discussions as “encouraging,” and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the negotiations had made “a lot of progress.”

Parties in Gaza

Palestinians in Khan Younis poured on the streets of cheering after Israel and Hamas signed the first phase of a ceasefire agreement. Videos obtained by Reuters showed crowds dancing, clapping and waving with flags near Nasser Hospital as songs bleared from speakers and ambulances passed through cheering hardships.

The deal, broken by US President Donald Trump’s peace framework, includes an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a hostage prisoner exchange.

However, Hamas called on Trump and the guarantees to ensure that Israel fully complies with the conditions of the ceasefire, which marks the most significant step to end the two -year war that has destroyed the Palestinian enclave.
