Karachi:
After earthquake spaces in the Malir area, panic and turmoil are spread among inmates in the district prison Malir. Reportedly, prisoners in Barrack Two of Circle 11 began to scream and demanded to be released.
The prison administration called for reinforcement from police and rankers coming within minutes. The prison authorities then used speakers and encouraged prisoners to remain calm, after which the situation was brought under control.
However, due to security concerns, surveillance and monitoring in prison have been tightened further, as recently, similar to Malir Prison caused chaos to break out, after which over two and a half dozen prisoners escaped. Most of them were later returned to custody.
