Shooting near Paycom Center after Thunder Win First NBA Championship

Oklahoma City police reported that a shooting victim was found in the center of Oklahoma City after Thunder’s Game 7 -win over the Indiana Pacers in the NBA final.

An evening of a party turned into a serious situation just outside the Paycom Center on the east side of Scisortail Park, where Fox 25 says police reported that shots were fired around 2 p.m. 22.30 Sunday night.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery while a person is currently being detained. However, no arrests have been made.

Fox 25 reports that officials believe the shot came from a match, though not related to the basketball game.

Reporter Grant Palmer from Fox 25 made a live hit from the streets on Sunday night, noticing a “very large police presence” after shooting went out. He also noted that small fireworks were exposed, but shots were also heard by people in the area.

FOX 25 reporter Paige Taylor and her photographer, Brian, got ready for a live hit for the Game 7s Show after the game when they caught the shots fired in the center of Oklahoma City, which led to some pandemonium as people started fleeing the area.

Others posted on X Rowdiness of some fans after the championship gains, which ultimately led to an arrest. It came to the point where the authorities told them outside the Paycom Center that they had to spread after the victory.

Meanwhile, inside the arena, Thunder was able to finally capture the team’s first NBA title since moving from Seattle, where they were previously known as Supersonics.

League MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 29 points, 12 assists and five rebounds in the victory, while Jalen Williams had 20 points, and Chet Holmgren also spoke 18 for Oklahoma City.
