- Bilawal requires CCI review over Indus channel projects.
- Sindh is against unilateral decisions on new channel construction.
- Bilawal says some factions that utilize water weded for gains.
Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) President Bilawal Bhutto-Zze on Tuesday expressed Sindh’s deep concerns about the construction of new channels from the Indus River, which emphasized that the question must be resolved through consensus and the case is reviewed by the Council for Common Interest (CCI), The news reported.
In a speech with the media in the House of Parliament, Bilawal said President Asif Ali Zardari had highlighted the government’s unilateral policies without consensus, especially the decision to make new channels from Indus.
“President Zardari sheds light on the issue of the National Assembly and the current government. The government is under strain because of the question and it must be reviewed and resolved, ”he said.
Bilawal said there is no reason for the government not to accept the proposals. “The government did not want its projects to become controversial or damage the federal units in any way,” he said.
PPP, he said, has been the first party to raise their voice against questions that intervene in the province’s rights. “Even in his last speech to the assembly, the deceased Nawaz Yousuf Talpur raised the water issue, and so did other members of PPP,” he said, adding that Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah, his ministers and provincial bureaucracy also raised the question on each forum.
To a question, President Bilawal said the Council for Common Interest is the right forum to tackle the question of water distribution, and PPP has constantly demanded that a CCI meeting be called. He claimed that some politicians belonging to certain factions are exploiting this national issue to promote their politics and attack the only party that always strives for parity.
‘Relief to our farmers’
Furthermore, he said as far as the green Pakistan project and collected investments for agriculture, PPP owns it not only, but it is the party’s actual philosophy. “We not only want relief for our farmers, but also want them to bloom,” he said.
To maximize the results for the first phase, Bilawal said that the areas Punjab and Sindh, which contribute to the agricultural economy, must be prioritized. “Small landowners must have the power of collective negotiations when they work together,” he said.
The chairman said the provincial governments must use the public-private partnership model to introduce smart irrigation funded by the federal government, making collective agriculture a revolutionary move. He said PPP is working on pilot projects across Sindh, including Bio -Salt Agriculture Experiments in Thar.
Bilawal said he expects the prime minister to honor the basic points agreed with PPP as part of their political understanding. “The Prime Minister instructed his team to tackle our complaints,” he said.
He said that PPP is the third largest strength in the National Assembly. “Our level of trust has not yet reached the stage where PPP can become a coalition partner for the government,” said the PPP chairman.
‘Half -time Prime Minister’ formula
He said that PPP has always rejected the formula “half -time Prime Minister”. “Our relationship with the government and political attitudes is ahead of all,” he said. PPP is currently working with the political party that engaged in it for the sake of the country.
With regard to the IFTAR dinner with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal said he is grateful to him to host PPP’s delegation. He said inflation was the most important question the parties contested the election, and now that the economic indicators are improving, PPP ends to the rest of the country congratulating Prime Minister Sharif.
He also said that PPP also raised his concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan and KP. “From parachute to Bannu and Peshawar, including all tribal areas, the fire of terror continues to spread,” he said.
He refers to the KP government and said that he “has never witnessed such a level of ‘uninteresting’ of a provincial government when it comes to the questions of their own voters.”
Bilawal said he has requested the prime minister to push the provincial government against solving this. “It is also the responsibility of the Federation to look after these issues as they cannot give up KP for the incident from the current provincial regime,” he said. He also said to tackle the law and the order situation is a collective responsibility.
In Balochistan, President PPP said not only law and order are an urgent question, but climate change also sinks his claws into the province, and the restoration work for destruction caused by the floods must be accelerated.
He described the president’s address to parliament as ‘historically’ and said this is the first time in Pakistan’s history that a civilian president turned to parliament for the eighth time. He said that President Zardari’s state crew and focus on people’s questions as well as advocating consensus -based reforms was a reflection of human expectations.
“From economy to terrorism as well as agriculture and technology, the president’s address affected all the important issues facing the country. As a symbol of the Federation, the president is the only representative of all elected MPs as well as the provincial assemblies. “
The PPP chairman said it is only the responsibility of the media to convey the truth. “The propaganda of the opposition should not be repeated,” he said. About the upcoming budget, chairman PPP said he hopes that PPP and PMLN will, in accordance with their agreement, prepare it together with PSDP for the four provinces.
