The Sindh government has announced plans to establish a modern media university in Karachi.

According to Mustafa Abdullah Baloch, spokesman for the Sindh government, the university will promote history and cultural heritage. The initiative will be taken on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Abdullah Baloch stated that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has instructed the Sindh Chief Minister to initiate the project, which aims to highlight Sindh’s historical and cultural heritage at the global level.

The spokesman further mentioned that the Sindh government plans to develop the institution to international standards for the promotion of media education, research and innovation.

Highlighting past achievements, he noted that several projects under public-private partnerships have been successfully implemented.

He added that the media university will be established under a public-private partnership model and will serve as a new hub of progress, creativity and cultural pride for the people of Sindh.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh has directed the Education Ministry to develop the province’s first ever transgender education policy.

The government spokesman said the provincial government had earlier approved job quotas for transgender people under the Sindh Civil Servants Amendment Act, allowing transgender community to secure government jobs, both on merit and through the reserved quota.

Earlier, an agreement was reached to establish a coordination mechanism to facilitate students from Sindh in pursuing medical and nursing programs in Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting between Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah and Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Education and Science Dogdorkul Kendirbaeva also included discussions on increasing the number of students from Sindh studying in Kyrgyzstan.
