The Sindh government has announced a firm attitude towards restaurants and other commercial companies that fall debit and credit card payments from customers.
Officials have declared that strict actions will be taken against companies such as restaurants, malls, coffee shops and Biryani centers that do not offer this payment facility to customers, The news reported.
In a step to enforce consumer rights, Sindh Consumer Protection Authority, which operates under the Bureau of Supply prices, has already initiated action by issuing messages to several prominent restaurants located in the Clifton area of Karachi.
These companies have allegedly been issued formal messages for violating Sindh Consumer Protection Act 2014, and litigation has begun against them.
Director -General Zahid Hussain Shar emphasized the government’s obligation to ensure that companies provide customers with practical payment options.
In a statement, he made it clear that all restaurants throughout the province, including those in Karachi, will be subjected to strict trial if they do not offer the facility to debit or credit card payments.
He further stated that the government has noticed the issue in accordance with section 23 (2) of the authority. 4, based on public complaints.
DG SHAR said that appropriate lawsuits will be taken against this serious violation and that a study has been launched to give consumers’ relief.
Assistant Director Mir Shahnawaz has issued strict directives to the companies to immediately cease this violation.
Restaurant owners have been asked to personally act or send their authorized representatives to the authority’s office to respond to the message. It has been made clear that non -compliance will result in strict trials under the relevant laws.
SHAR conveyed a clear message that it is the companies’ responsibility to give customers more payment options and no negligence in this regard will be tolerated. He emphasized that consumer rights will be protected at all costs.
