Sindh’s Director -General (DG) for Health has issued urgent directives to tackle the rising H1N1 influenza cases in the province.
In an official announcement sent to all district health officers, medical superintendents of government hospitals and other relevant authorities, Sindh Health Department has directed strict monitoring of H1N1 cases in all hospitals, Express News reported.
Suspects and confirmed cases must be reported immediately to the provincial health office. Hospitals must also ensure protective measures, including the supply of PPE sets to medical staff.
The message also emphasizes the need for a public consciousness campaign to promote mask-emergency and social distancing. Influenza vaccination should be strongly encouraged, especially for vulnerable persons, medical staff, children and those with existing health conditions. All medical centers must strictly follow infection control protocols.
District officials have been instructed to present daily reports of cases and challenges facing. According to the health department, preventive measures and timely vaccinations can help slow the spread of the virus.
The public has been asked to avoid unnecessary gatherings and immediately seek medical consultation if symptoms appear.
A month ago, Sindh-Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho reports on a Covid-19 outbreak in Karachi and called them wrong, as reported by local media.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Minister clarified that only seven people out of more than 100 Covid-19 tests performed in Karachi tested positive. “Reports about a Covid-19 scattered in the city are baseless,” she said.
Dr. Pechuho explained that precautionary-19-19 tests were performed for people who suffered from seasonal flu and flu.
