The Sindh High Court’s Constitutional Bench has ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and other relevant departments to submit a report within two weeks regarding commercial activities in a residential building on Burns Road.
The hearing, presided over by Justice KK Agha, addressed a petition regarding commercial activities in a residential building in the Burns Road area.
During the proceedings, the SBCA’s counsel informed the court that illegal shops had been sealed but some persons had reopened the shops by removing the seals.
Despite resealing, the seals were again broken and the shops reopened. Lawsuits are now being brought against these people.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that the court had earlier ordered the SBCA to stop commercial activities in the residential building.
He also expressed concern that the building, which is part of an archaeological site, was damaged by the construction of shops, posing a risk of collapse.
The court ordered that legal action should be taken against those involved in the illegal activities and emphasized that cases should be filed against those who violated the law.
The court also directed the SBCA and other relevant authorities to submit a report within two weeks.
