River levels across Sindh remained high on Saturday when authorities maintained flooding preparation measures, and the Pakistani army ended events to support the civil administration in the event of further increases.
The provincial rain and flood cell reported elevated currents by key recordings. Guddu barrier recorded a high flood with influx at 544,658 CUSSCS and EXISTING at 514,051 CUSSCS. SUKKUR -Bearpage recorded a medium flood with 470,580 CUSCS -Inflow, while Kotri Barrage saw a low flood with 262,509 CUSCS flow. Panjnad registered inflow and outflow at 575,195 CUSERCS.
Army and Civil Administration Officers have inspected vulnerable areas in Dadu, Jamshoro, Succur and Guddu, where strengthening dam and other preventive works are underway. Army-driven medical camps provide free treatment to the residents and will remain active if flood occurs.
Meanwhile, Sindh senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon PPP praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s efforts on flood victims and called his leadership a “beam of hope.”
Memon said PPP would not rest before full rehabilitation and noted that agriculture was most severely affected. He welcomed the federal announcement of environmental and emergency situations in the farm, but criticized delays in a Benazir -income support aid package promised by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He added that Bilawal had toured affected districts in Punjab and Sindh and met provincial leaders to plan peasant extraction and called for federal support for rapid action.
