A massive landslide hit the Ghandlo area of Chilas on Tuesday, burying six passenger vehicles under tons of debris and trapping several people, officials said.
According to Faizullah Faraq, spokesman for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, some passengers remain trapped while rescue efforts continue.
An emergency was declared at Chilas Hospital while Deputy Commissioner Diamer Attaur-Rehman Kakar directed RHQ Hospital to take urgent measures to help the victims.
Rescue teams consisting of seven people and three vehicles worked at the site to clear the debris and provide medical aid to those affected.
