If you want to compete with Sony and Bose on the title Best ANC headphones, bring your A game and ideally a bag with a skull on. And Skullcandy has done exactly that with its new Aviator 900 ANC headphones.
Where rivals tend to offer a case, Skullcandy has gone after the more fashionable cross -body bag depicted below. And where rivals offer some kind of spatial sound is Skullcandy Gone for Thx Spatial Audio with head tracking.
The bag feels like a really useful and practical addition, while it is also a more fashionable option, so it may be a victory all the way.
These are not the first Skullcandy Aviator Headphones: The previous model related in 2010 was something of a hit among celebrities and influences. This new model takes the same retro aesthetics, but brings it up to date.
Skullcandy Aviator 900 ANC: Key Features and Pricing
The noise cancellation here is adaptive, with six microphones that analyze the sound around you, and with ANC on you can get a very respectable 50 hour listening; with ANC away that rises to 60 plus hours. Quick charge gives you four extra hours from a 10-minute charge.
Bluetooth is 5.3 with Le Audio and Multi-Point pairing, and there is a low latency mode for games and watching video. Google Fast Pair and Google Finder both supported.
The AVIATOR 900 ANC headphones include personal audio via MIMI, and they also come with three EQ advance and a customized 5-band EM. You can customize the button features via the companion app and there is Spotify Tap support for immediate access to your Spotify Melodies.
This is Skullcandy’s most Premium headphones yet, we are told, but they are not priced for expensive: The list is $ 299 / £ 249 / € 299 / around AU $ 520.
It puts them in competition with the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort headphones self they are still less Premium prices than $ 399 / £ 349 of the new Sony WH-1000XM6.
We look forward to seeing if they can get up to these headphones when it comes to performance – but when it comes to features and designs, they are starting a good start.
