Sky comes past Lynx Bag Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardosos Double-Doubles

Entry Saturday, Minnesota Lynx had lost only three times, but they lost their fourth match on Saturday afternoon.

Chicago Sky teammates Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso each emitted a double-double when Chicago disturbed Minnesota 87-81.

Reese ended the day with 19 points and 11 rebounds for her eighth consecutive double-double. She now has 14 double double this season. Cardoso, the center of heaven, ended with 17 points and a career-best 15 rebounds.

Rachel Banham knocked down three 3-Pointers and ended with 12 points for the sky. Courtney Williams hit two free kicks to Trim Minnesota’s deficit for 75-73 before Cardoso made a pair of free kicks and Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was called for a technical error.

Banham hit the subsequent free throw, and Michaela Onyenwere added a pull-up jumper along the baseline to make it 80-73 with five minutes back in the game.

Collier hit a triple that made it 82-79 with less than three minutes left in regulation, but Atkins responded with a pull-up jumper and Lynx didn’t get any closer.

The sky went into Saturday’s match with a 1-10 record this season against team .500 or better. The victory over Minnesota marked only the second time this year, Chicago logged back-to-back victory.

Napheesa Collier had 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks for Lynx. Kayla McBride added 17 points and Williams scored 13.

Collier missed the first of two free throw late in the third quarter to break her franchise record of 54 consecutive made free kicks.

Minnesota has lost two of three for the first time this season. Lynxen doesn’t have to wait long for a chance of redemption. Lynx plays the sky again Monday.
