- Slack is the latest software package to get a huge US government dabat
- Slack Enterprise Grid costs 90% less, 70% less for AI added
- Adobe, Google and Microsoft have also offered discounts
Trump’s efforts to centralize the US government that uses and to reduce costs driven by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), seems to be working because Slack is just the latest in a growing list of companies that want to win government contracts by offering fierce discounts.
Salesforce confirmed that it would offer Slack Enterprise Grid to US federal agencies with a significant 90% discount, with Slack AI for Enterprise also on the cards to government customers with an almost 70% discount.
The US General Services Administration (GSA) confirmed that the agreement would be honored until November 30, 2025.
Slak to offer 90% discounts to US Federal Agencies
“Under Onegov, Salesforce is the latest company that gives price improvements and more is expected this year,” noted GSA.
GSA Federal Acquisition Service -Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum explained: “The private sector is experiencing first -hand through the Onegov initiative, which President Trump’s GSA is obliged to be a good partner when we work together to deliver the best tools to the government at the best value for taxpayers.”
The government was previously entitled to significant discounts across multiple agencies, but by centralizing software collection, the United States now has even more purchasing power and unlocking some serious discounts.
“This overall model reflects GSA’s central role in purchasing, maximizing cost savings, reducing redundancy and streamlining the acquisition with uniform prices and terms over the federal government,” added GSA.
Part of a wider push under President Trump’s march-performing order to consolidate purchases, Salesforce-owned Slack is just one of a series of software agreements presented to the US government. Adobe, Google and Microsoft have also offered healthy savings to Trump’s government.
Apart from saving costs for US taxpayer, the wider effort also plays into the United States technological transformation, hoping that real and effective tools could improve efficiency, streamline operations and remove operational inefficiencies.
“The couple with Salesforce’s robust ecosystem, data processes and AI agents allows Slack state agencies to improve productivity and deliver citizen-focused results at precision and speed,” added Salesforce public sector Dave Rey.
