- SMEG ECF03 is a new espresso machine that brews hot and cold
- It takes two minutes to prepare a single cold extreme shot of espresso
- Machine Retro-style is now for sale for £ 499.95 (approx. $ 670 / AU $ 1,020)
Smeg has launched a new espresso machine that can brew hot and cold, producing a single cold extracted shot in just two minutes.
SMEG ECF03 is the latest addition to the company’s series of espresso manufacturers sitting next to the SMEG Mini Pro and BCC13, but with a curved 60s-inspired shape and a choice of six colors.
Take your choice from classic red, white and black, or choose pastel cream, light blue or cream-soft, gelato-inspired colors that are one of the largest kitchen trends right now.
KitchenAid started Vogue for candy -colored appliances as it revealed creamy flesh milk as its official shade of 2025, and the trend shows no sign of subsiding, with brands, including Nespresso, Breville and De’Longhi, all together.
The ECF03 is designed to be available to new users, while it also gives more experienced home baristas the opportunity to think with brewery that suits their taste and chosen beans.
The machine comes with pressure filters that are forgiving if your coffee is not perfectly painted and will still let beginners achieve a nicely extracted shot with lots of crema, plus single -walled filters for users with more experience and a good quality coffee grinder at their disposal.
There are also three temperature settings, including a slightly cooler option for light roasts, and a higher to extract the full taste of dark, rich fry.
By pressing the ECF03’s cold-brew button, it will bypass its thermo block heating system and extract your espresso using ambient temperature water from the tank. This takes a little longer (two minutes for a single shot of espresso or four minutes for a double), but is still much faster than preparing cold brewery in the traditional way by steeping painted coffee in cold water overnight.
Smeg promises that the flavor profile will correspond to Old-School Cold Brew with a more soft taste and less acidity than espresso extracted with warm water.
SMEG ECF03 can now be purchased directly from SMEG and from third -party retailers for £ 499.95 (about $ 670 / AU $ 1,020). It is against the top end of the scale of a machine of this type, but based on previous experience I can say that you not only pay a prize for the stylish look of the machine, but also rock-solid build quality.
I am testing ECF03 to see how it compares to the best available coffee machines right now, and will give you a full review soon.
