- The deep blue iPhone 17 Pro and Space Black iPhone Air is reportedly scratched lightly
- These phones can also display visible brands after being used with Magsafe accessories
- Lighter colors seem less affected
The iPhone 17 series is in the process of a strong start where these phones achieve good reviews and apparently are in great demand, but now that they have arrived in some buyers hands, we hear reports on a potential problem.
As reported by Bloomberg, a number of buyers find that these handsets are easily scraping, with the deep blue iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the space that is black iPhone air is apparently the most susceptible to visible scratch.
Most of the scratch appears to be on the glass panel under the camera block, as seen in this x -post from @Amisecured, but some pictures and videos also show scratches on the camera body.
@Apple Sorry, but #scratchgate is real and very disappointing – a case will help, but I even rain a few minutes without a case in your pocket with keys and the phone is damaged – really shame you! There are even reports of visible brands that are left by Magsafe chargers, which you can see in images shared by Consomac, so it seems that these iPhone nuances are really showing damage.
This is probably the reason why the other nuances – most of which are easier – not as far as problematic, which, while they may be as easy to scratch, may be scratching less visible to them.
In addition, Apple’s decision to switch from Titanium on the iPhone 16 Pro series to aluminum for iPhone 17 Pro could also have an impact.
Painted beauty
It is unfortunate, because when they are unnoticed, these beautiful phones are and the deep blue hue is quite striking, while the room black is sure to be very popular – as black shades usually are.
We still won’t say you should avoid these colors now. First, it is unclear how widespread these scratches reports actually are, so your phone can be fine. For another, while scratches are not desirable, they are purely cosmetic, so they will not affect the functionality of your device.
And we would always recommend putting a expensive phone in a case anyway – it’s just maybe all the more important here.
We have contacted Apple to comment on this scratch problem and update this article if we hear back.
