- Siri is reportedly getting more AI later in the year
- It is not clear if all the delayed features are added
- Deeper appintegrations is the tip of appearing
Apple has gained the flock of Siri and Apple Intelligence, with promised AI upgrades that are now officially delayed and the company that takes a lot of criticism for it – but at least some of these delayed features could get a look later in the year.
In a New York Times article that repeats some of Apple’s recent AI -Fonde, including internal friction over future plans, there is a publicity that Siri would get certain upgrades “in the fall” in the US -so probably September time, with iPhone 17 and iOS 19.
“Apple has not canceled its renewed Siri,” the article states. “The company is planning to release a virtual assistant in the fall who is able to do things like editing and sending a photo to a friend on request, says three people with knowledge of its plans.”
It’s not much to get off – do we just get some extra photo editing features or the full package of delayed features? In the end, Apple wants to get Siri on par with Chatgpt or Gemini, but it may not happen in 2025.
Delayed features
The feature feature mentioned in the new article is one of the Apple Intelligence upgrades, promised back in 2024: SIRI’s ability to dig deeper into iPhone apps and take actions on behalf of users via voice commands (known as App Intentions).
However, it is just part of the picture. Apple has also said that Siri will be much smarter in terms of context and understand more about what is happening on your iPhone and more about you (by utilizing some of your personal data in a private and secure way).
When Siri gets these features, it will be better able to compete with its AI Chatbot rivals. Just this week, Chatgpt, for example, added a memory upgrade, which means it can utilize your full conversation story to get answers if needed.
Apple Intelligence features already added to SIRI include support for more natural language in conversations, and improved technical aid support for your devices. As for iOS 19, you can expect to hear more about the software update in early June.
