- Android 16 creates problems for some pixel devices
- Navigation buttons and movements freeze
- Yet Google has not said anything official about the mistakes
Android 16 was officially pushed out to pixeleers last week, but reports come in of the software update, causing some pretty large bugs on certain handsets, related to movements and interface and navigation.
As noted by Android headlines, the reports say that certain navigation buttons and movements do not respond as they should – which means certain operations (such as going back to the previous screen) take seconds to complete or not happen at all.
It’s not hard to find users who have problems: On Reddit we have posts about non -reacting buttons on a Google Pixel 8 that pushes up not doing anything on a Pixel 9 Pro XL, and several movements that don’t work on a pixel 6.
Over on X (formerly Twitter), Artem Russakovskii from the Android police says that the back of gesture only works at intervals since I update to Android 16 – and there is a screen recording included so you can see what is happening (or rather, does not happen).
Problems for some
Here is a demo of the backbone that randomly does not work on Android 16.I grabbed a abdominal report and submitted it to Google Engineering along with this reproductive screen. Hopefully they will find it out. pic.twitter.com/nemifqrvbJune 14, 2025
While there are several reports of problems online, these problems clearly do not affect everyone: Since upgrading to Android 16 on my Google Pixel 9 phone, I have not noticed any problems using the navigation movements.
Google has yet to say anything official about these problems. If you are affected, you can report the error to Google. With so many users who are now complaining, this will undoubtedly be addressed before rather than later.
What makes these bugs particularly annoying is that they relate to a basic part of the user experience and affect more apps and screens. Being able to get around your phone is a pretty basic part of using it.
Android 16 brings a number of useful upgrades, including a new Pixel VIP feature for your favorite contacts, but we are still waiting for Big Material 3 Expressive Revamp to arrive – which should be together later this year.
