- Sony’s WH-1000XM6 headphones Launch on May 15
- Almost every detail is already leaked
- Expect deliveries begin in June
Sony’s next flagship headphones, Sony WH-1000XM6, will be launched on May 15. Sony Australia shared a teaser for the launch on his Instagram account without any details other than the date and clock: For Australians it is at. 2 on May 16.
Because Australia is many time zones in front, it is a day later than everyone else: For countries longer west it is 9:00 PDT / 12:00 ET / 17:00 BST Thursday 15 May. We expect shipping to begin in June 2025.
Almost every detail has already leaked Bar an important detail: International Pricing. We know the award for the Spanish market with the permission of an Amazon leak on its Spanish website, but the details of US and British prices have not been participated in the same way – although we can take a pretty good guess on what these prices will be.
Here is the teaser, followed by six things to expect from next week’s WH-1000XM6 launch event.
6 things to expect from Sony WH-1000XM6 (based on rumors)
1. A small price increase
Amazon leakage included a price for Spanish buyers of € 470 including tax; Without Tax, which acts as € 439.
It is approx. $ 499 / £ 439 / AU $ 770, which sounds right: rumors suggested that we would see a price increase for Sony’s 2025 model. The current model was launched at $ 399 / £ 380 / AU $ 649.
2. The hinge is back! Back! BACK!
Recently leaked images on the Walkman blog show the redesign, which includes redesigned ear cups, a thick and foldable hinge and a wider headband.
That’s good because one of the most important criticism of the current model is what some users have found to be a pretty flimsy construction.
3. Even better noise reduction
The leaked specification on Amazon highlighted a new HD -Destructive Processor, called QN3. QN3 is reportedly seven times faster than QN1, which is in the current WH-1000XM5.
It is accompanied by 12 microphones, multi -noise sensor technology and an automatic noise -canceling optimizer; Together, it should mean an improvement in Sony’s already excellent noise corting.
4. Improved audio treatment
The integrated processor V1 in the XM5s included the QN1 processor, so an updated version of this processor should also mean better sound.
Sony’s leaked marketing material says the WH-1000XM6 has Hi-Res Audio, DSEE EXTREME, LDAC, Adaptive Sound Control, Personalized Spatial Sound and 360 Reality sound with the main tracking.
5. Small, stiff drivers
One of the surprises in the XM5 was that Sony moved to smaller drivers than those in the XM4 and dropped the size by 25% to 30 mm. The drivers this time are also 30 mm.
As we said in our Sony WH-1000XM5 review, less does not mean worse: 30mm driver “uses a high stiffness dome and a soft edge to take some of the bite of sounds with higher pitch.”
We found that the XM5 sounds better than the XM4 (although there is not much in it, so if you see the XM4s go really cheaply, go for it).
6. A better case
The Walkman blog reports that the case has been redesigned: The zipper is gone, replaced by a magnetic closure and there is a small pocket for your 3.5mm and USB cables.
A couple of XM5 owners have posted on Reddit about zippers on their cases (above) that fail, so this can be a reaction to it; Hopefully the magnet is as strong as the one on Apple’s Odd AirPods Max Case.
Of course, we are following the launch event and we will update you with all the confirmed details and the price in your area as well.
