- Former PlayStation Executive Shuhei Yoshida said Nintendo PlayStation’s first game would have been a space shooter
- Yoshida was able to play a prototype of the console and try it “almost finished” game
- The game was inspired by the SEGA CD version of Silpleed
According to former PlayStation -Director Shuhei Yoshida, the Nintendo PlayStation’s first game would have been a spatile.
After his departure from Sony last month, Yoshida joined forces with Minnmax to remind you of his 31 years in the company, as well as his very first day on the job, where he got the non -released Nintendo PlayStation’s first match.
In some context, there was originally a partnership between Sony and Nintendo to develop a CD-ROM addition to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) called SNES-CD. However, the collaboration eventually failed and the project later resulted in the creation of the original PlayStation.
Yoshida explained that he joined Sony in 1993 after the collaboration was over and became part of Ken Kutaragi’s team to work on PS1, and this is where he was first shown a prototype of hardware.
“The first thing they showed us was that the Nintendo-Sony PlayStation, a prototype already worked, and also they were almost done with a game on it and I got the game on the system the day I came with,” revealed Yoshida.
“It was like a shooting game. Can you remember on the Sega CD system, a great game from Game Arts, a space shooter, and all assets are streamed from the CD … so lots of assets coming in … “
The game Yoshida refers to is the Sega CD version of Silpleedwhich was a spatical shooter who placed Polygon ships over FMV backgrounds, and because these videos were predicted, he explained that the non-released game had “richer graphics than that time standard.”
Yoshida said he can’t remember who created it, but it could have been developed in the US or Japan, adding that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Sony had played in his archive.
Elsewhere, Yoshida recently talked about the Nintendo Switch 2 message, which he thought “might have been a bigger reveal,” and hopes “something that people wouldn’t predict” will be shared later.
