Update: May 28, 2025
It’s official: Sony has announced FX2 as the latest addition to its cinema line area of mirror -free Moviemaking cameras.
It comes with a 33MP-bag-one-tuned CMOS sensor with full frame capable of delivering over 15 stops of dynamic range with the S-Log3 color profile. It can detect the 4K 30FPS using the entire sensor’s width or 4K 60fps when you crop for the Super 35 format, and has double base ISO of 800 and 4000 with S-Log3.
The camera body is compact (129.7 x 77.8 x 103.7 mm) and relatively lightweight (679 g before lentils or other additions). Internal cooling components enable up to 13 hours of continuous 4K 60FPS recording, but perhaps the most interesting piece of physical design here is the brand new tilting EVF.
This 3.68 million dot is looking for a deep eyelid and the ability to tilt up to 90 degrees upwards so users can achieve what Sony describes as “deep immersion” during use.
The 3-inch Vari Angle LCD touch screen, meanwhile, has a customizable “Big6” home screen capable of displaying at-a-glance parameters such as FPS, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, iris and more.
SONY FX2 will be available from July 2025 at a cost of $ 2,700 / £ 2,700 / AU $ 5,299 body or $ 3,100 / £ 3,150 / AU $ 5,999 in a bundle of Sony XLR-H1 grip, which comes with two XLR / TRS terminals and 3.5mm microphone jacks, supporting 4-channel, Aud. There had been rumors that FX2 would support 32-bit float audio recording, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Original article follows:
Sony launches a new Cinema Line Mirror -free camera later today – but a set of leaked photographs seems to have wasted the beans and spoiled the surprise a few hours early.
The four images that were posted on Sony Alpha Rumors show the alleged Sony FX2, a video-focused e-mounting camera with full frame. Three of the images are promotional lifestyle shoots showing the camera in action, while the fourth and most interesting is filled with top line information about features and specifications.
As it already got rid of, Sony FX2 looks like sports the same 33MP full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor as previously seen in the company’s A7 IV and A7C II cameras. It will apparently support double native ISOs (800 and 4000) and video recording up to 4K 60fps in 10-bit 4: 2: 2 quality with over 15 stops of dynamic range.
Although this 4K 60fps recording will only be supported in Super 35 format, which means it will be cropped by power rather than using the entire surface of the huge sensor. It will probably disappoint some videographers.

What about 32-bit float recording?
Look at
The image also seems to confirm the previously stated tipping electronic viewfinder (EVF); It also appears in one of the lifestyle shots.
FX2 will also support 16-bit raw output via its HDMI, has an active cooling system to combat overheating of problems and a venice user interface beaten against video rather than quiet photos. There is no mention of 32-bit float audio recording here, which is another feature we have heard will be included.
So even though the cropped 4K 60FPS is not what many users would have hoped for, FX2 is formed to be a very well -equipped camera for content creators and youtubers. Of course, much will depend on the price. $ 3,500 is the rumored RRP (which converts to around £ 2,600 / AU $ 5400), which seems quite steep for a cinema camera that tops 4K.
Currently, all of the above is remaining the unconfirmed of Sony, but there is not long to wait for the official launch. It happens later today, May 28, 2025, at. 15 BST / 16:00 CET. You can watch the reveal live on YouTube (above).
We report back on Sony FX2 when it’s all official and we have the full details of spec, features and prices.
