- Sony’s new CS speakers range from $ 229 up to $ 279
- Book shelf, floor, center and atmos speaker models
- Larger speakers are hi-res sound certified
Sony’s popular CS series of home theater and stereo speakers have just grown larger with the arrival of four brand new models: Book shelf speakers, floor stands, atmo’s raising speakers and a center speaker as well.
Sony says the new speakers bring “Study Quality Affairs into the Home”, and I am very happy to see that they have stuck with Sony’s brand “Any color as long as it is black” design-so as well as making the center speaker the same width as their AV recipients, which is a nice touch if you like your AV set up to be visible.
The best part is that they all have an impressive selection of drivers and extremely reasonable prices, despite the fact that Sony generally comes more at the premium end of the home theater options.
The new speakers are:
- SS-CS5M2 bookshelf speakers
- SS-CS3M2 Fulvent speaker
- SS-CS8M2 Center-channel speaker
- SS-CSEM2 DOLBY ATMOS UPFIRING speakers
Sony’s new CS series speakers: What’s new and how much?
The CS5M2 book shelf speakers are $ 249.99 per Pairs and has a three-way design with a 5.12-inch woofer, a soft dome-tweeter and a wide spread supertweeter. They are certified for hi-res sound and have a frequency response of 53Hz to 50,000Hz.
The CS3M3 floor stands are four-way, adds another 5.12-inch woofer and a bass reflex enclosure, and again they are hi-res sound certified. Frequency response is 45Hz to 50,000Hz. The list price is $ 279.99 per Speaker (then about $ 560 for a couple).
Center Channel speaker, CS8M2, has twin 3.94 “woofers and a high-precision tweeter; there is a bass reflex enclosure around the back. The individual speaker is $ 229.99.
Last but not least, there are CSEM2-burning Dolby Atmos speakers for $ 249.99 per year. Couple. Each speaker comes with a 3.94 “full range speaker and they are designed to sit on top of other CS speakers or they can mount on the wall/ceiling.
All four speaker models are now available in the United States, although we have not confirmed a release in other countries yet.
The only thing that especially lacks is a subwoofer. Sony’s SA-CS9-Subwoofer is not really available anymore, so it is surprising that a new model was not revealed here as well.
