Lahore:
Punjab chief minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the provision of several electrical buses to the districts of South Punjab.
The chairman of a meeting where the transport department informed her of her projects and the progress made on the electrical bus project was reviewed, the minister said that the remote areas should be prioritized in the supply of electrical buses.
She emphasized, “The culture of always giving every new facility to big cities must be changed. We will bring rural areas to the level of the big cities.”
She ordered 240 electrical buses to be given on a priority basis for 24 districts. In the first phase, the 240 e-buses are delivered to relatively underdeveloped districts.
Between August and October, 500 e-buses will be delivered to Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan and Rawalpindi. From November to December, 600 additional electric buses arrive for Punjab.
The main minister highlighted, “Under the Punjab Clean Air program, 400 electrical buses will be delivered to Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Lahore.”
A detailed review was made by Gujranwala Bus Rapid Transit Project. To connect the entire urban and suburban areas, 80 feeder buses are launched. On the 22 km long BRT system from Rahwali to Eminabad, 28 stations are established.
A proposal to extend the Gujranwala Brt route was also reviewed. The BRT system delivers two-way transport after every eight minutes.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif issued directives that traffic along the Gujranwala BRT route should be managed through a smart traffic management solution. This project is established four electric bus deposits in Gujranwala.
At the meeting, the progress of Orange Line and Red Line Transport Systems in Faisalabad were also reviewed.
The red line will be 23.4 km long with 24 stations and is expected to transport more than 185,000 passengers daily. The orange line will be 29 km long with 21 stations and is expected to transport over 111,000 passengers daily.
On the Minister’s Instruction, the route from Fiedmc to Salami Chowk is included in the project.
The Minister of Ministry ordered the Transport Department to immediately start all public welfare projects and said that the e-Bus routes should be determined while keeping them in view of the public commuting needs.
