Southwest Airlines rolled Dallas Mavericks over the team’s shocking decision to move on from superstar Luka Doncic.
Doncic was the centerpiece of the Blockbuster trade that sent the five-time all-star to Los Angeles Lakers early last month, much to dismay of most of the franchise’s fanbase. Mavs received Anthony Davis, Max Chirstie and a draft election for Doncic and a package of other players.

“It’s not like we were trading Luka …,” the airline said in an Instagram post on Thursday. The remaining photos in the post affected the airline’s recently announced changes in its bag policy.
For more than half a century, Southwest has enabled customers to control their luggage for free, but the airline has faced a setback after revealing that it would start using a bag fee on May 28.

The airline has not yet shared details of how much travelers will be charged, even if the fee for a third controlled bag is listed for $ 150 on the Southwest’s website.
Shortly after Donic was traded for Lakers, fans were seen in a stomach-home match on February 10 with poster table signs reading “Four Nico.” The wording of the sign referred to Dalla’s General Manager Nico Harrison. Several fans were thrown out of the game where a team official quoted the NBA’s Code of Conduct.

“In the first incident, the guest brought in a sign that broke the following rule included in the NBA behavior code: Clothes, clothing or signs showing explicit language, gang or derogatory characterization to any person (s),” Maverick’s vice president of business communication Eris Finegold said in a statement.
Mark Cuban, who sold his majority share in the franchise in 2023, later invited an exposed fan to sit in court by a future Mavericks game.
Doncic responded to trade by saying that he was originally in a state of unbelief.
“You can imagine how surprised I was,” he said on February 4th. “I had to check if it was April 1st. I didn’t really believe it.”
He won his first scoring title last season before leading the Mavs to the NBA final. In addition to his five appearances in the NBA All-Star game, Doncic is also a five-time all-NBA election.
