Islamabad: Action on Directives from the Ministry of the Interior, the Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), has set up a special team to fight hate opinion on social media under Muharram.
According to a statement, there will be a crash against hate material, incorrect information and encouragement on social media. Strict action will be taken against those who spread hate opinion and religious dispute on social media.
A team of experts, including technical specialists, digital analysts and officers who monitor hate material, are formed to monitor social media positions based on religious hatred. NCCIA said that preventing encouragement on social media under Muharram will be its highest priority and litigation will be taken against those who have been found spreading hatred.
After receiving several testimonies of moonlight from all over the country, the Central Ruet-E-Hilal Committee on Thursday announced that the moon of Moharram 1447 Hijri was seen in the country and Ashura would fall on July 6 (Sunday).
Muharram is considered one of the four holy Islamic months. Ashura falls on his 10th day when the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Hussain (RA) with his family members were martyrated in the Battle of Karbala.
Faithful keeps processions and Majalis across the country in Muharram, while religious scholars address enormous gatherings in the midst of tight security, with thousands of law enforcers deployed to ensure security.
In addition, the decision to suspend mobile phone or Internet services in the Holy Islamic month would be made in consultation with the provinces, as was resolved in a meeting with President of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to review the national security plan.
The meeting underwent Muharram security preparations across all provinces, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Federal Capital, Islamabad. Officials agreed that strict action would be taken against individuals spreading religious hatred on social media platforms.
Naqvi added that all necessary measures and decisions related to Muharram security would be carried out through mutual consultation. He confirmed that the federal government would provide full support to maintain peace in the religious month.
He further emphasized that no persons would be allowed to provoke unrest or participate in undermining activities. Naqvi said the enforcement of the Code of Conduct under Muharram would be secured and noted that processions and gatherings would be monitored using modern technology.
