Spotify just got a big upgrade to offline playlists – and that’s especially good news for Android users

  • Spotify has upgraded the way you can download playlists to other devices, marking a first for Android users
  • Android users can now download music and podcasts to other devices ranging from the Spotify app
  • Spotify has also added a “Manage Downloads” feature

Spotify has rolled a useful new upgrade to offline playback that allows Premium subscribers to download playback lists, podcasts and more to other devices externally in the Spotify Mobile app. The platform has also added an improved management tool to your downloads.

Together with devices such as iPads and Laptops, the new feature allows you to download music and podcasts for the best smartwatches. Although a similar feature has been available to the best Apple Watches for some time, this first marks that a feature like this will be available to Wearo’s devices such as Galaxy Watch and Pixel Watch.

Music Streaming Service has begun to roll this new feature for Premium subscribers globally, and while it is far from a whole new feature, it is one that finally takes Wearos users into consideration. It also makes it much easier for you to download your favorite music to your smartwatch before going on a race without having to navigate the little smartwatch face myself, which I personally find very difficult.

When I say it makes the download process easier, I mean it. All you have to do is press the three-dot icon on a playlist, podcast or album, and then tap ‘Download to other devices’ and the contents appear on other devices where you are logged in with Spotify.
