- Spotify has launched a new feature in its search hub called upcoming releases
- Users can now see and rescue upcoming albums from two lists based on their listening story and the most pre-saved albums globally
- Upcoming releases also give listeners a place to access countdown pages, merch and more
Spotify really does its bit to prove that it is still the best music streaming service and its freshly launched upcoming release Hub does just that. The platform has just rolled out the new feature and created a space in the app dedicated to keep tabs on new album releases.
Yesterday, the Spotify featured feature in a blog post, and as the name suggests, it will allow you to see and predetermined recommended soon-to-free albums based on your personal listening habits everything from somewhere. In addition, you will also be able to see the top 10 expected new releases based on the number of global pre-waves.
One of the better parts of the upcoming release hub is that it is very easy to find in the Spotify app. Go to the most important search hub and roll down to ‘browse everyone’ and there you will find the brand new upcoming release section next to your ‘Made for You’ Hub. From there you can pre -run upcoming albums trouble -free and quickly access album count pages to see the track list, listen to singles, check Merch and watch clips.
Upcoming releases mark a first for Spotify and enhance Music Streamer’s approach to giving fans more ways to live in Løkken with new music. Last year, the Spotify Countdown pages introduced artists who not only breathed new life in album release strategies, but gave fans a new way of engaging in pre-release hype.
Now that Spotify has launched the upcoming releases, Hub driven by countdown pages, it can give the platform a Ben -up to bring you closer to new music – and I’m already warming up to it.
I like it I see I like it
Like any music that is obsessive, it is in my nature to have my ear to earth with new music releases, but it can be right the task when it comes to keeping an eye on new albums, especially if you listen to a lot of different genres and artists like myself.
But Spotify’s upcoming release Hub could be the answer to all my new music questions, and I don’t think I’ve taken a new feature when daycare landed in 2023.
So far, upcoming releases are limited to two different categories, ‘For You’ and ‘Top 10 Countdowns’, which is the only downside to the new feature, but I hope this is intentional.
It would make sense for Spotify to start small and then build on the feature when users get used to it, so with that I would like to see Spotify adding genre-specific recommendations, such as ‘most popular indie releases’, or even a section that groups soon-to-be released albums from artists touring your local area.
I think there is a lot of room for this new feature to develop, but it is still early days and at the moment I am just excited to test the water with it and see how often the recommendations are updated. Furthermore, it saves me bags of time rolling through Metacritic’s list of new releases to find out who brings out new material.
