- Netflix fans have largely expressed disappointment over the highlight of the show
Octopus games Creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk has revealed that the hugely popular Netflix show should originally end in a different way.
In various pieces published yesterday (June 30), and three days after the survival drama last season landed on Netflix, Dong-Hyuk explained why he decided to change Octopus games Season 3’s ending.
Full spoilers immediately follow for Octopus games‘s last episode. Turn back now if you’re not caught.
Dong-Hyuk, who discussed the decision to kill the protagonist Seong Gi-She in one of the best Netflix shows’ final, admitted that he should initially let Gi she survive. However, he said he changed the original overview for the last chapter of the series in the midst of the increasingly dystopian state in the world in the year 2025.
“When I planned seasons 2 and 3, I didn’t intend to have gi-female die,” he revealed. “The idea that I had in mind was that Gi-she would do it alive somehow some way-he can become the winner-and he would return to see his daughter.
“But in the writing process and looked around at what happened in the world, I realized that wasn’t the story could end, “he continued.” That kind of unhappy ending when he saw what happened around the world and when he saw Gi-Hun’s journey and his destination, I think it just doesn’t stand for me. I thought a better appropriate story and closure to the story of Gi-Hun’s journey would be for him to sacrifice himself for future generations. So I had the baby in the story and made the end with gi-she sacrificing himself. “
Comment from R/TV
Gi-Hun’s death is one of many controversial moments that have annoyed Netflix fans since Season 3 was released.
In fact, various threads have appeared on forums such as reseter and reddit pages, including R/Netflix, R/Television and R/Squidgame as viewers venture their frustrations over and/or debate the incredibly successful Netflix TV Originals finale. Chief among the anger of the audience is Jun-Hee’s Baby, which will be crowned the winner of Games’ latest iteration and the unexpected Cate Blanchett-Star scene that seems to create a US-set version of the titular, life-threatening game.
Dong-Hyuk steadily said: “The fact that I brought a baby into the story as part of the action, treating whether he has ever taken into account to kill the Jun-Hee-Baby as part of the action.
“There was never a moment when I thought about it because it would have been too dark. The baby also symbolizes the fact that in the future we have to be able to suppress some of our greed and sacrifice some of our own convenience and what is ours. That’s what I would say and the baby is a symbol of it.”

As for Blanchett’s employment as an American version of the recruiter and whether her como has any ties to Octopus games Project that the famous director David Fincher reportedly develops, Dong-Hyuk added: “That scene was in my mind towards the end of my writing process for the manuscript. I wanted to think a little more about who to bring on stage. I knew I wanted a woman’s recruiter because I thought it would be something else and a little more influence.
“Because it’s just a line and it’s a moment that you get to see this person, I would have someone who had the charisma that could dominate the screen in a moment. I’ve always been a big fan of Cate Blanchett and all my producers are too. They really wanted her. In terms of offering the special actor who happened after we started shooting.
“It’s not related to it,” he said of Blanchett’s appearance and no matter what form Fincher’s project takes. “All I wanted was just an effective ending and that was all that was for it. Honestly, I haven’t heard officially from Netflix about David Fincher creating a Octopus games. Of course, I’ve heard the rumors. But again it was just the end I wanted for season 3rd. “
Make Dong-Hyuk’s comments you to look at Squid Game 3Completion differently? Or do you want gi-she had survived? Tell me that in the comments.
