Starknet, an Ethereum layer-2 rollup, is investigating a bug that has left the protocol temporarily offline for over 4 hours now.
“Starknet is currently experiencing downtime,” the project wrote on X, adding that its team is “actively investigating the issue and working to restore full functionality as soon as possible.”
Downtime can have a knock-on effect across decentralized finance and other onchain applications, including halted swaps, delayed withdrawals, and difficulty updating positions.
Starknet did not immediately provide details on the cause, estimated time for recovery or whether user assets were at risk.
CoinDesk reached out to the team for comment, but did not hear back in time for publication.
The price of its native token, STRK, remains little changed according to CoinMarketCap, up just 1.92% over the past 24 hours.
