The registration process for Starlink, a satellite -internet service operated by SpaceX, is underway in Pakistan, according to a statement from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Tuesday.
This development follows a meeting between PTA President General General (R) Hafeezur Rehman and the Starlink team at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.
The discussion focused on improving affordable broadband access, especially in underrated regions, in an attempt to bridge the digital gap and accelerate digital transformation over Pakistan.

During the meeting, the PTA chairman confirmed the authority’s obligation to promote innovation and enable new technologies for nationwide connection.
He also confirmed that Starlink’s registration is in the process of the country’s satellite regulating body, a necessary step for PTA to provide a license for satellite -based Internet services.
Starlink, giving high -speed internet access to remote regions globally, shared insight into its satellite -based Internet solutions and their potential influence on Pakistan’s remote areas. Both sides discussed a legislative framework and strategies for seamless service integration.
Earlier this year, technical billionaire Elon Musk announced that Starlink had applied to launch his services in Pakistan, waiting for government approval.
The Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications has required PTA to speed up the process to ensure that Starlink’s services are introduced into the country as soon as possible.
In 2022, Starlink approached Pakistan with plans to provide satellite -based Internet services, but questions with Pakistan Space Regulatory Authority are still under review. Until the license agreement is completed, Starlink’s services cannot be offered in Pakistan.
PTA continues to work to end the legislative process to bring Starlink’s services to the country in line with efforts to improve Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
