The federal government has declared February 5 as a public holiday to observe Kashmir day. Meanwhile, the State Bank of Pakistan has also obtained that it will remain closed in compliance.
All government offices, banks and educational institutions will also be closed nationwide following an official notification issued earlier.
The holidays are observed annually to express support to the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Public collections, seminars and human chains are planned in major cities, including Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, to mark the apartment.
Political leaders and activists are expected to participate in demonstrations that highlight Pakistan’s attitude towards Kashmir.
The federal government had previously issued a 2025 -holiday calendar that confirmed February 5 as a federal holiday.
Provincial administrations, including Sindh, have also announced a complete closure of government and semi-government institutions.
Markets, schools and other public spaces will remain closed, while roads in key areas may see disturbances due to planned processions.
Pakistan has observed Kashmir Solidarity Day since 1990, which advocates what it calls “right to self -determination” for Kashmiris.
The long -standing dispute over Kashmir has been an important source of tension between Pakistan and India, where Islamabad called for a decision in accordance with the United Nations decisions.
