- Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will meet its release date of June 18, 2027
- That’s according to two of its producers, who are “very confident” it won’t be delayed further
- Its first footage could be revealed sooner than some of us think too
It seems that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (SM: BTS) will not be delayed again after multiple release dates.
That’s the verdict from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who told me exclusively that they’re “very confident” that one of next year’s most anticipated new movies will make it to its current release date. That answer came as part of our chat about Project Hi Marythe first film directed by Lord and Miller since the 2014s 22 Jump Street.
Originally released on March 29, 2024, the sequel to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (SM: ATS) was initially removed from Sony’s release calendar just weeks after Across the Spider-Verse made its theatrical debut in June 2023. The SAG-AFTRA strikes, coupled with well-known production issues, were cited as major factors in said move.

Fortunately, last March Sony assured fans that the final installment of their highly-rated and award-winning animated Spider-Man film trilogy was still in development. Additionally, it set a new launch date of June 4, 2027 Beyond the Spider-Versewhich will conclude the stories of co-leaders Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen.

Just four months later, a revised release date of 25 June 2027 was announced, sparking fresh fears that SM: BTS suffered from more internal strife.
In September 2025, however, Sony indicated that development was not only going well, but somewhat ahead of schedule. Really, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse‘s latest release date — June 18, 2027 — is the first time its launch has been pushed forward.
Given Lord and Miller’s full faith in it SM: BTS will drop next June, attention predictably turns to the unveiling of its first footage.
So far, we’ve only been treated to a handful of official images that were released last April (see the X/Twitter post above). And taken into account SM: ATS‘ first teaser received its worldwide premiere at Brazil Comic-Con (CCXP) 2021 in December of that year, it would make sense for Sony to drop Beyond the Spider-Verse‘s first teaser during this year’s CCXP, especially since it will still be six months from launch when CCXP 2026 takes place.
Is that the most likely scenario? I had to ask. Unfortunately, Lord and Miller didn’t give a definitive answer, but their response gave me hope that we could see something soon — and maybe even sooner than December.
“We can’t really tell you, but stay tuned,” Miller said, before Lord followed up with “Soon. You’ll soon see something…like.”
Does this mean we could see something at San Diego Comic-Con at the end of July? Or even earlier at Mexico Comic-Con next month (ie April)? I guess we’ll find out in the coming weeks and months.
