Stephen Curry came dangerously close to setting the 3-point record on Tuesday night when the Golden State Warriors defeated Memphis Grizzlies, 134-125.
Curry scored 52 points and made 12 3-Pointers in the competition. He added 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals too. He was three 3-Pointers away from setting the record of his former teammate, Klay Thompson, and a 3-pointer away from tying his personal record.

“52 points with people killed all over him, all games long,” said Warior’s main coach Steve Kerr, adding later, “I’ve seen this for 11 years, and actually longer before I became his coach. … you get a real feeling of just the size of his talent.
“The guy is great to look at.”

Curry was held without a field goal and Warriors lost against Grizzlies with 51 points in their last matchup. He said he forgot about that game and was more focused on how big the game was when it came to the playoff image.
Warriors moved to the fifth at the western conference with the victory, improved to 44-31, and Grizzlies fell to 44-32. Golden State is also half a game up on the Minnesota Timberwolves and a full game up on the Los Angeles Clippers.
Curry also passed Jerry West to 25. On NBA’s scoring list at any time.

“I got a little emotional about it,” Curry said of passing West. “It was special. In his memory. What he meant for our organization, the league, to the basketball world … That’s the logo.”
Golden State plays Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. Memphis takes on the Miami heat.
