Steve Zahn says working with Glen Powell’s alter ego on Tchad Powers Distracted him several times during the shots.
In the new Hulu Sports Comedy, Powell, 36, Russ Holliday, plays a dishonor former college -quarterback that explains himself as chad powers to make comeback years later.
With the help of prosthetics borrowed from his makeup artist father, Russ ends up looking unrecognizable with an uneven wig, false teeth and face improvements.
On the show’s September 25 -Premiere at Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Zahn – who plays the fighting team coach – he often performed “bread” character when Powell appeared in full disguise.
“I could hardly hold it together. I broke up with him a lot. Oh yeah, it’s ridiculous,” White Lotus Star told 57, to People Magazine.
“When we shoot, I spent more time with him as a tchad than as Glen. So every time I saw Glen, it felt almost strange, like,” oh, that’s the guy I never see! “
Zahn praised Powell’s performance as “remarkable” and added, “he’s brilliant in this part and such an incredible human being. He was a joy to work with and I hope we get another season.”
Looking back, Zahn said he was in doubt when he first read the manuscript Powell Co-wrote with Michael Waldron. “I remember I was thinking,” how are you going to pull this off? The prosthetics, the football … how is it real? “
