Islamabad/Rawalpindi/Shangla:
Torrential rain accompanied by storms and hail broke out destruction across several regions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as Islamabad on Wednesday and claimed at least three lives, injured several others and injured crops, homes and infrastructure.
The greeting storm, accompanied by strong winds, surfaced several cities and districts and raised alarms over the mercury and fleeting weather pattern.
Three people lost their lives, while eight inflicted damage to walls with wall collapses caused by heavy rain and storms in rawalpindi and jhelum.
In Jhelum’s Tehsil Sohawa, Torrential Rain led to three separate wall collapse events. In the Shahidan location, a dera wall collapsed on a loader vehicle, killed two individuals on the spot and wounded four others.
The wounded were switched to a hospital in Rawalpindi, where two the condition remains critical.
In another incident in the Pindi Darwaza area, a woman was inflicted on serious injuries after a wall gave way. A third collapse took place in Sohala, a nearby locality that injured a child and a young man.
In Rawalpindis Ratta Amral Police Jurisdiction, the border wall in a mosque was thrown in and buried a 24-year-old youth named Musa during the waste. Musa, resident of Hazara Colony, died on site. His body was moved to a hospital.
A strong storm swept through Islamabad, lasted approx. 35 minutes and detached heavy rain and large hail stones that crushed the windshield of the vehicle and stripped trees of branches and leaves. In Tarnol, several trees were upset, which disturbed traffic and caused short chaos on the roads.
Flood -like situation in KP
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavily rained with thunder and lightened various districts, causing streams and drains to flood.
In Khyber’s Landi Kotal and the surrounding areas, powerful winds, hail and intense rainfall brought a welcome drop in the temperature. However, flash flooding flooded several parts of the Pak-Afghan highway and disturbed traffic. In an incident, flooding water in Landi Kotal swept a parked vehicle in the main bazaar. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Precipitation also hit the Lower Dir, where the rainfall broke the heat wave, which made the weather comfortable. However, heavy rain caused flooding in streams, and the water level in the Panjkora River increased significantly. The power supply was interrupted as several feed stumbled.
In Takht Bhai, thick dark clouds during the day became dusk -like darkness as heavy rain continued throughout the region.
