- Baratza has launched a new coffee grinder, the Encore ESP Pro
- Its stepless mechanism can adjust the burrs in steps of 2.2 microns
- It also features ion-generating technology to prevent static build-up during sanding
Baratza, which specializes in premium coffee grinders, has just launched a new stepless model that makes it easier to dial in your chosen brew type – whether it’s espresso, Aeropress or pour-over. The Baratza Encore ESP Pro features the same Baratza M2 steel burrs as the company’s previous models, but with a new stepless mechanism that allows for 2.2 microns of vertical burr movement per revolution. degree of adjustment rotation.
Finding the right grind size for your coffee (dial) is the hardest part of preparing a good brew. A small incremental change can be the difference between an espresso that is perfectly rounded and one that is slightly bitter or sour.
The ideal grind size for a particular bean and brew type also does not remain consistent; the age of your beans and even the ambient temperature can affect the extraction rate, so being able to make small adjustments is a big plus.
The Encore ESP Pro should also make the grind tidier thanks to ion-generating technology that helps prevent static electricity, which is created by friction during grinding and can cause coffee to stick to the grinder. Less static means less mess and less waste.
LED downlights help you see exactly what you’re doing (and watch the coffee fall nicely into your filter), and you can choose whether you want to grind all the beans in the container, or just a single dose.
If the name Baratza is familiar but you can’t quite place it, you may already be using some of its hardware. The company was acquired by Breville in 2020, and you’ll find its burrs inside many of Breville’s best coffee machines — including the top-rated Breville Barista Touch Impress.
