- Surfshark has genyloned its antivirus software with a new, improved interface
- The antivirus also runs directly on armhardware, ensuring a wider adoption across different architectures
- The update seeks to improve the availability and transparency
Surfshark has renewed its antivirus software with an updated interface and full support for Armenheds as it seeks to improve the availability and transparency of its premium bundle.
Surfshark is based on its core product as one of the best VPNs on the market and offers its antivirus software as part of its all-in-one-cyber security suite, Surfshark One. The bundle combines its VPN, AV, private search engine search and data breach monitoring service alert for a single subscription.
With the latest update, Surfshark Antivirus promises to be even easier to use across all devices. Subscribers can now install the new version by updating their Surfshark app to the latest version and then clicking the antivirus icon.
“A large glowing”
An revision of Surfshark Antivirus’ interface attaches greater emphasis to visibility so that users can keep informed of what is happening in the engine room in their digital threat defense.
Full protection history, including the number of detected threats, and quick access to additional features or manual scans at all times are key add -ons, as well as an improved repair option when problems arise, such as software conflicts.
That said, the core software remains unchanged. This means that the Cyber Security Tool still provides webcam protection, fully customized security settings, spyware and malware shielding and cloudprotect function for real-time file scan.
With antivirus using the respected Avira SDK as a motor, the updated GUI represents a continued focus on user experience in line with Surfshark’s identity as a one-stop, reliable, universal solution.
Armed and clear
Want to get your hands on this shiny new interface but run windows on arm? Surfshark you have now also covered on that front.
While the company has led the package on the arm’s support to VPN (already topped our list of the best VPNs for Windows Arm), the antivirus component who was previously afterwards and forced users to resort to browser extensions or independent OpenVPN/Wireguard clients as a solution.
Product Manager at Surfshark, Nedas Kazlauskas, says Techradar: “The standard version of our application could not fully run and protect users’ devices as it was based on the X86/X64 architecture.”
Now the updated antivirus is running directly on armhardware without translation layers. A trait that is expected to enable fast load times, a smooth user interface and responsiveness, especially on Windows -Arable computers with Snapdragon processors.
Surfshark Antivirus gets a slim new interface + Army support from R/Surfshark
As Surfshark suggests in his message, the move comes as a direct reaction to users’ requests.
“It is true, mostly our AV was made to support army units based on users’ demand that steadily grows,” explains Kazlauskas. “We also support Microsoft’s efforts to make the Windows operating system safer from scratch and would like to be part of the journey to do so.”
Of course, not everyone will be attracted to the solution. Many people believe that VPNs with antivirus with such well -established antivirus companies on the market are poor competitors.
Others will still tell about the risk of handing over a lot of information to a single provider. Or even choosing an antivirus company could effectively provide a ‘back door’ for governments and software companies to ‘snoop’ on you. Maybe Linux is the way forward where opportunities for security seem endless.
Only users can decide whether a one-stop solution is right for them. Surfshark definitely thinks it is. And while some people don’t want to put all their eggs in a basket if you have a Snazzy Windows Snapdragon -A laptop that you just want to work, Surfskark’s message might have just made your day.
