Surrender of illegal weapons essential to Kurram peace

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary, has emphasized the need to surrender all illegal weapons to ensure permanent peace, safe journey and enforcement of the law of the Kurram Tribal District in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting was attended by IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan, GoC Kohat Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Mutasim Billah Shah, Ro Kohat Abbas Majed Marwat, Deputy Commissioner Kohat Abdul Akram and prominent parliament from Kurram District.

The main secretary stated that although the ongoing conflict in Kurram appears to involve two groups, extremist elements are trying to exploit the situation to burn hatred. He urged both parties to identify and isolate such elements to prevent them from succeeding with their malicious design.

When he highlighted the government’s commitment, he reiterated that the Kohat agreement will be implemented at all costs, with full cooperation from all parties affected.

“Understanding and tolerance is crucial to protecting our areas and people. This situation must not be taken easily,” he added.

The main secretary also assured that the rule of law will be maintained without exception. “There will be strict litigation against anyone who violates government orders or laws. FIRS ARE NOT SMALLY formalities; they will be executed and guilty will be subjected to severe punishment,” he warned.

He emphasized unity and collective responsibility and urged Kurram’s youth to actively participate in peace construction efforts and urged both sides to work closely with the government to maintain law and order in the region.

Previously, the chief secretary visited the IG police Hangu district, where he reviewed the facilities of a temporary relief created for families evacuated from certain villages in Kurram.

He expressed satisfaction with the events and met with displaced citizens and assured them of the government’s obligation to meet their needs.
