ONE New York Islanders Smaller Leaguer has been suspended 10 matches for abuse by an official after sending a referee flying into the boards during a game this weekend.

Bridgeport Islanders tip Adam Beckman, 23, will miss the rest of the regular season with only five games left after he was suspended by American Hockey League’s Player Safety Committee Wednesday.

“Beckman was suspended in accordance with the provisions of the AHL rule 40.3 for physical abuse of an official (Category II),” the committee said in a press release. “Beckman will miss Bridgeport’s last five games in the regular season 2024-25 as well as the next five matches he is active on an AHL club list.”

The piece happened in the third period of a game against Charlotte Checkers On Saturday.

Beckman was in Charlotte’s zone when he seemed to skate into the official. Then he seemed to sky the official back, who sent him directly to the ice and into the boards. The incident pulled a tough reaction from present fans.

Beckman stayed with the official when a team coach came over to check him. According to reports, the official was able to get up again and continue.

The suspension comes less than a month after Beckman was acquired by the islanders in a trade with New Jersey Devils. He registered 33 points with Devils’ affiliated team, Utica Comets, before shopping.
