SVI warns of India’s ICBM -Test Fall

Islamabad:

The Strategic Vision Institute (SVI), an Islamabad-based think tank, has warned that India’s expected test of a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) later this month could destabilize the region and carry “serious consequences” for global security.

Indian media reports suggested that New Delhi was preparing to test its longest series of Agni-Series-Missili fi ce The Nuclear-Capable Agni V or Agni VI with several independently targeted re-entry-entry vehicle (MIRV) capacity, SVI said in a press release. A message has already been issued to Airmen (Notam) to 20-21. August, which blocks a corridor of more than 4,700 km in the Bay of Bengal.

The thinking stated that India’s missile development was accelerated since its membership of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) in 2016, giving it access to advanced technologies and equipment. It added that India had also acquired armed drones from the United States and Israel, some of which were used during the conflict in May 2025 with Pakistan.

“The development of missiles at intervals of 8,000 km and above and possession of nuclear capacity is a clear manifestation of power projection global and hegemonic designs,” SVI said, adding that such weapons would put Washington, Moscow, Brussels, Beijing and other major cities within a long -term reach.

The thinking stated that India had already militarized and nuclearized the Indian Ocean with nuclear -powered submarines armed with submarine -launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). It added that the testing of improved missile systems was intended to send a message to India’s opponents and strengthen its global power projection ambitions.

“The international community has to persuade India not to take steps that undermine strategic stability and adopt policies that could jeopardize regional and global security,” SVI warned. The institute also called on New Delhi to “commit to good neighborhood, final state-supported terrorism through clerks, cease the oppression of kashmiris and comply with its obligations under the UN-Charter and International Law.”
