SWABI:
The Swabi District Administration has issued formal notices to Afghan refugees living in two major refugee camps, Barakai Afghan Refugee Camp, Gohati and Gandaf Refugee Camp, ordering them to leave the camps and return to their homeland.
In line with the government’s directives, a deadline of 30 December has been set for the evacuation of all refugee camps. Official notices in this regard have been served and the Swabi district administration has also issued a notice ordering complete vacation of the camps before the stipulated date.
According to the notification, the authorities have decided to demolish Barakai Afghan Refugee Camp (Gohati) and Gandaf Refugee Camp through an operation on 31 December.
Notices issued to Afghan refugees through the concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) state that the residents of the camps are being informed for the last time to begin practical arrangements to relocate their household goods and businesses in accordance with the administration’s directives. The notices emphasize that timely compliance will help avoid coercive action by the government and ensure the dignified and orderly repatriation of Afghan refugees.
