- Details of an upcoming Switchbot -Hub 3 have emerged online
- The new hub has a physical dial to control smart home devices
- Switchbot has not yet announced the node 3 and there is no release date yet
Switchbot, manufacturer of some of the best smart home devices, preparing to launch a new hub that will make it easier to control them easier than ever thanks to a bigger addition: a programmable physical dial.
Switchbots gadgets (such as Little Switchbot Bot Switch Pusher, and Switchbot Lock) are especially smart because they don’t require you to replace anything in your home. Instead, they link to the electronics and items you already own, whether it’s your curtains, your door handles or on / off button on your coffee maker. It makes them a particularly good choice for tenants who can’t easily replace the items in their homes, and want Smart-Home devices that they can easily take with them to a new house or apartment.
Personally, I use a trio of Switchbot -blind slopes to open the three little blinds in my bedroom in the morning and automatically close them at night. Switchbot now makes a smart roll of blind, but the blind slopes are cheaper, work well and took 10 minutes each to install.
Connecting thinking
Your devices are connected to your home-wi-fi network via a Switchbot hub and there are currently two different models available. If you just check a few devices in a relatively small space (like me), the Switchbot -Hub Mini will fit the bill, but if you have a more complex system, Switchbot -Hub 2 is a better choice thanks to its greater range, ability to control A/C systems, moisture and temperature sensors, LED displays and touch button to start customizing stages. It also supports Matter Smart Home Standard so you can integrate your Switchbot devices into a multi-platform ecosystem.
Now HomeKit news and reviews have seen details of an upcoming Switchbot -Hub 3 on the site of Connectivity Standards Alliance, the organization behind the case -and it should give you even more control thanks to the addition of a physical dial.

The dial allows you to control your A/C system as well as media playback via services including Apple TV and Spotify.
The new Smart Hub will also have a motion -enabled screen that looks like many of the best smart thermostats, which should prevent unnecessary light that disturbs you at night. It will be able to show temperature and humidity in your home and draw on third -party weather services to show current forecasts. It can also show real -time status for Switchbot smart locks
Switchbot himself has not yet announced the new node, so we do not yet know when it will be released or how much it will cost, but hopefully we do not have to wait much longer.
