- Three out of five companies have experienced Deepfake -attacks recently, finds Gartner
- Audio and Video Depths become more accessible to attackers
- Quick injection also provides criminal access to sensitive business information
Gartner says even small businesses are facing an increase in cybercrime, and AI may be blame-more than three-fifths (62%) of organizations reporting AI-driven attacks in the past year.
The company’s survey found that three out of five (62%, again) experienced Deepfake -attacks, with 44%experiencing Deepfake -sounding, making this the most common attack vector compared to video -dybfakes (36%).
Quick injection attacks against AI tools (32%) and attacks on enterprise generative AI application infrastructure (29%) were also noticed, showing how AI is not only used to strengthen crime, but it also serves as a useful vulnerability for many criminals.
Does AI get more cybercrime?
“As adoption accelerates, attacks that exploit Genai for phishing, deepfaks and social technology have become mainstream, while other threats-such as attacks on Genai application infrastructure and fast-based manipulations-new and winning traction,” explained gardener VP analyst Akif Khan.
The report describes how rapid AI development has seen Deepfakes go from complex to immediate, where sound depths are now generated in real time to make them very convincing and personalized.
Although real -time, person -specific deep -faked, it remains very expensive, it is only time between limited use and widespread use.
On the field, cyber security companies and analysts see that deep -faked is used as an initial attack vector before attackers return to simpler and cheaper methods. For example, fake scammers sometimes a CEO of a call before switching to only social technical methods.
When it comes to utilizing companies’ AI systems, attackers are often observed fooling systems to reveal sensitive information or abuse integrations to perform code by providing malicious prompt.
Looking ahead, companies of all sizes-not only multinational companies-to increase their games, are advised by zero-thrust approach, which emerges as a favorite to block unjustified activity.
