Tarar claims Sohail Afridi selected as KP cm for ties to militants

Minister of Information Ataullah Tarar has accused Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf founder Imran Khan of being a “main sponsor” of terrorists and of facilitating the return and shelter of militants.

He claimed that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister-appointed Sohail Afridi was nominated to “completely support and promote” terrorists and their facilitators.

He made the comments while talking at a joint press conference in Islamabad together with the coordinator of the Prime Minister about Information and KP affairs Ikhtiar Wali Khan on Thursday.

Tarar said that the recent Court of Justice against PTI constituted a political defeat to the party and reinforced the state’s narrative that those seeking to destabilize the country would not be tolerated.

“The person in prison is the main sponsor of terrorists,” he told journalists, adding that facilitators “received support from him,” and that those who promote instability will not succeed. “He added that the PTI founder used to describe terrorists as” good people “and had a proponent of negotiations with them.

Tarar, pointing to Afridi and the PTI founder, said, “The much person and the one currently in prison brought terrorists back to Pakistan and settled, and today this relief continues. It is unfortunate that the whole disturbing fraction of PTI acts as easier for terrorists.”

He claimed that militants were actively activated during Khan’s tenure and appointed Afridi as a recipient of this policy and said he was brought into the provincial policy to strengthen Military’s Support Network.

Tarar also criticized Ali Amin Gandapur and suggested that he was removed as KP chief minister for not performing such relief to the satisfaction of PTI’s founder. “He asked for someone close to the declared refugee Murad Saeed and sympathy for terrorist networks,” he claimed.

The Minister of Information strongly condemned attacks on civilians and said that those responsible “do not deserve any grace.” He emphasized that Pakistan’s security policy “is made in Islamabad and will remain,” and not dictated by any external influence, including Afghanistan.

Highlighting what he called the broader failure of PTI’s “Anti-State Tales,” the minister described the London judgment as “a resounding clap in the face” for those who tried to undermine state institutions.

He said the order confirmed the government’s attitude and exposed the “baseless accusations” made against Pakistan’s institutions.

Tarar further accused the PTI government of setting up the national action plan and weakening the country’s fight against terrorism.

“During PTI’s term of office, terrorists were brought back to Pakistan and caused serious damage to the nation,” he said, remembering that peace was restored through military operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-Ul-Fasaad, which “broke the back of terrorism.”

Tarar, who praised Pakistan’s security forces, said they “stand as an iron wall against terrorism” and that their victims “will be written in golden words.”

Ikhtiar Wali Khan also said that although changes in provincial leadership are a routine political case, KP continues to suffer from poor governance and a rising threat of terrorism.

He added that the “Kohistan scandal” had postponed large-scale corruption under PTI’s rule, adding that the party’s founder “has only worked against the state and its institutions.”

He further claimed that PTI had left Pakistan “on the verge of bankruptcy”, but under the current government, “the country’s economy is now improved.”
