Information Minister Attaullah Tarar strongly rejected Indian media reports claiming a terrorist threat against foreign guests participating in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
When he spoke in an interview on a private news channel on Monday, he said Pakistan hosted the event “peaceful and very skilled” that rejected the demands of Indian business.
Previously, it was reported that Pakistan’s intelligence agency had issued a high alarm about a potential plot of hidden terrorist groups to abduct foreign guests who participated in the Ransom tournament.
The report named several terrorist clothing, including Tehreek-in-Taliban Pakistan, Islamic State and Balochistan-based groups. The mentioned also mentioned that Pakistan’s security forces had implemented high -level protective teams to ensure that the safety of the players and staff.
In response, Tarar condemned the reports as false propaganda intending to harm Pakistan’s image and sabotage the successful hosting of the tournament. He accused Indian media of politicizing sports and spreading lies to undermine the event.
He said, “Pakistan is one of the safest venues, and we have been able to perform ICC matches very peaceful and very effective.”
Tarar also criticized India’s rejection of touring Pakistan for the tournament, instead of choosing to play all their matches in Dubai.
He suggested that India’s campaign against Pakistan’s successful hosting of the event came from jealousy and discomfort at the prospect of a major international sporting event held in Pakistan.
The minister highlighted the packed stadium at Lahores Gaddafi Stadium under England VS Australia match last week and praised the positive atmosphere and the presence of international fans. Tarar also rejected allegations of low participation and stated that the reports were manufactured.
He concluded by repeating that Pakistan would continue to host the tournament successfully and rejected any attempts to spread harmful propaganda.
“India’s propaganda will fall flat on the face,” he said, hiking that the ICC masters trophy was a victory not only for Pakistan but for the global sports society.
