Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has warned of litigation against those who protest and ran social media campaigns against Chief of Army Staff’s (Coas) visit to the United Kingdom.

In a speech about expressing news on Thursday, Tarar said the army chief received a warm welcome in Britain, which improved Pakistan’s international status. “The world recognizes the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces,” he said.

He accused Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) of being unable to accept respect to the army boss abroad. “A handful of Miscreants launched a campaign on social media and staged protests, but patriotic Pakistanis have rejected their actions,” he added.

The Minister promised action against those involved in the campaign. “Anyone who harms Pakistan’s integrity and interests wants legal consequences,” he warned.

Tarar claimed that Pakistan’s economy improved with a 32% increase in transfers. He criticized PTI and said, “While overseas Pakistanis are contributing positively, a group of instigates leave no opportunity to harm the country’s reputation.”

He accused PTI of encouraging violence and said, “They attacked Jinnah House and Desecrated Martyrs’ memorials. They do not take into account the security of Pakistan.”

The Minister also claimed that PTI followed a “foreign agenda” that facilitated militants and had a history of supporting terrorism. He quoted PTI’s actions on May 9 and claimed, “There is a sign of what PTI did that day. Their founder even wrote to the IMF and proved their hostility to Pakistan.”

He dismissed PTI’s political relevance and said, “Their policy is in decline. They have no agenda, which is why they protest against the IMF one day and the army chief visits the next. If Pakistan’s success bother them, they can continue undermining the country failing.”
