Lahore:
Torrential Monsun rain has flooded large parts of the country, swollen rivers, destroyed crops, and left dozens died when authorities warn of more floods through the end of August.
According to the flood forecast forecasting, Tarbela Dam has reached 99% of its capacity of 1,549.20 feet, while Manga Dam is 76% full of 1,219.40 feet. Levels in rawal, khanpur and simple dams have also risen sharply, forcing officials to open waste roads on multiple reservoirs to reduce pressure.
High flooding conditions were registered at the Guddu barrier at the river Indus, where inflow exceeded 543,000 CUSSCS.
The Sutlej River also rose to dangerous levels, especially at Ganda Singh Wala in Kasur and Head Sulemanki, where authorities reported moderately to high flooding. Officials connected the rising Sutlej levels partially to India and released additional water upstream.
The floods have already immersed thousands of hectares of agricultural land, wiped out crops and displaced residents. In the Kasur district, over 30 villages lost road access when agricultural land was flooded. In Pakpattan, flooding water entered residential neighborhoods and led to mass evacuations.
Accidents continue to mount when collapsing homes and failing infrastructure succumb to relentless rainfall. At least 10 people have been killed and more than 60 wounded over Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir, according to the first reports.
In Marran, a person died when a roof threw himself in while Kashmir in Azad Kashmir destroyed four houses and a mosque.
City centers are also under load. In Lahore, Torrential Rain Gulberg, Jail Road, Lakshmi Chowk and other areas of water that come into homes and shops.
In Islamabad and Rawalpindi flooded raised streams in Barakahu, catches vehicles. Heavy showers in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhelum and Chiniot overturned power bars and stumbled feed and disturbed electricity supplies.
